Thank you for your kind letter – it made me so happy! You write with such warmth that I read it and feel as if we already know each other well, although there is still distance between us.
You ask what I think about the Internet. You know, I think it is a great power: the Internet really brings people together. Without it, we would never have met, would not have exchanged words, thoughts, or photos. Of course, sometimes it brings disappointments – not all people are honest, and sometimes you have to deal with deception. But I believe that if you open your heart, you can find a real connection, even at a distance.
When I write you letters, I think about sharing my life, thoughts, dreams with you… and about getting to know you better. I want to have a real, honest conversation between us, without masks. I imagine how you read my words, maybe smile – and this fills me with warmth.
I really like that you treat your family so carefully! Your dinners with your parents, trips to the countryside, skiing - it all sounds very cozy. And cycling is a great hobby! I also love active activities, sports help not only the body, but also the soul. In the gym, I usually do cardio and a little strength training - this helps me to keep fit and at least for a while distract myself from anxious thoughts. If we talk about my hobbies, then besides sports, I love music (most often I listen to something light, with beautiful melodies - pop, a little jazz, sometimes even classical music), I like to read books - mostly novels and a little philosophy. And you? What are your favorite performers or bands?
From films, I like melodramas, historical dramas, sometimes something about traveling or people who overcome difficulties. I like to watch stories that touch the soul. And what films do you like the most?
I use the Internet almost every day, mainly for work and for communication. But, to be honest, sometimes there are interruptions in communication because of the shelling, and I can’t always answer quickly - I hope you will be lenient with this.
Thank you for being interested in my life - this is very important to me. I will be happy to tell you more, step by step. And you, please, tell me about yourself too - I want to know how you live, what you think about, what makes you happy or worries you. You know, sometimes I think that if it weren’t for our communication, it would be much harder for me to bear everything that is happening around me. With every word you say, I feel as if something bright appears in my life, something that warms me from the inside - and I really appreciate it.
Ralf, to be honest, I’m so tired. Tired of constant alarms, sirens, news, of the fact that every morning begins with the question: “Where is the most dangerous today?” Kyiv used to be my home, my favorite city, and now it seems that the walls here are too narrow and the sky is too heavy. I would like to leave, take a breather, start from scratch - but, unfortunately, this is impossible now due to finances. I am not saying this to evoke pity or ask for help - no, you know, I don’t like that. It’s just... I want to be frank with you.
I am surprised myself at how quickly you have become an important person to me. It all started with a simple letter, and now I catch myself waiting for your messages with special trepidation. I enjoy sharing my thoughts with you, telling you about my day, dreams, even if they are still just dreams.
You know, sometimes before going to bed I think: “I wish I could just be near you, drink some tea, watch a movie, laugh at something simple...” And I smile at these thoughts. You know how to create the feeling that somewhere there is a corner where it is calm and warm.
Thank you for this. Thank you for simply being.
Mentally hugging,
your Ekaterina
